Electrical Safety Inspection
Reduce your potential risk of fire and smoke damage.
Do you know what a GFCI receptacle is (GFCI stands for Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt)? Do you know what it does? Have you tested your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors this month? Are you certain that you have smoke and carbon monoxide detectors where they are supposed to be? Do you know how old your circuit breakers are or if your system could be overloaded and thus a fire hazard? If you answered, “No” to any or all of these questions, we are here to help!
Safety is the main focus of Bear Copper Electric. And while the safety of our electricians is very important, it’s your safety we are most concerned about! We offer safety inspections for your home and main service panel. We want to make sure the systems put in place to keep you safe in your home are working properly.
According to the Electrical Safety Foundation International, in 2017 there were an estimated 51,000 home electrical fires, nearly 500 deaths, more than 1,400 injuries and $1.3 billion in property damage. And sixty-five percent of home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no working smoke detectors; that’s 325 people! Recent data from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission shows that, on average, there are more than 400 electrocutions in the United States each year. And almost 100 of those electrocutions were from wiring hazards, including damaged or exposed household wiring.
This electrical safety inspection is meant to bring attention to any dangerous electrical hazards a homeowner may not even know about and bring peace of mind that they live in a home that is safe!
Our Home Safety Inspection: We make sure the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are located in the most effective places and where required by law, that their batteries and sensors have not expired, and that the alarms sound, test and reset properly. We make sure that anywhere in the home where electricity may come in contact with water is properly protected. And do a visual inspection of receptacles and switches to check for signs of over-heating and damage.
Our Main Panel Safety Inspection: We make sure terminal connections are tight. We check for heat damage, corrosion, and the condition of circuit breakers. And we inspect the ground system and the overall panel integrity.
And we include a report of the findings, a free estimate of repairs or replacement, and an explanation with tips on how to use and test the equipment to keep you and your loved ones safe for years to come.
